The "Jailbreak" driving force is: Information seeks freedom!

And since Apple announced today that they are going to deny unlocked iPhones to access the SDK / iTunes Store it is clear that this dark cloud will gain more strength in the future.

Based on what I read on the net this morning it looks as though no applications will be released to the users until June 08, but the developers can stard building them now - nice way of buying more time. The developer is able to join the program at developer.apple.com for $99. The application limits are: No Porn, Nothing illegal, No bandwidth hogs!

The business deal is that the developer sets the sell price and gets 70% revenue share on each sale. No credit card fees and payout is monthly. The App Store is the exclusive way to distribute your iPhone applications. Users will be able to browse applications, search or then download any App wireless to the phone.

My guess is that the progress on the iPhone market growth is slowed down based on the following issues:

3G - the EDGE is not cutting it, why can Japan enjoy fast speeds in their daily mobile experience?

AT&T - imagine how fast Apple would reach the 10mil mark if they would sell unlocked iPhones, there are plenty users out there that can live without the virtual voice mail and it would probably create a nice niche market for other competitive applications ( hint - SDK ). Come on - sell it to us at a premium price - 799$ - so we don’t have to deal with the unfriendly AT&T, then Cingular, then AT&T people. People like to have a choice, we love freedom of choice since it is a natural behavior.

Apple - I love how Steve & Co. come up with these amazing gadgets and applications but their main problem is that they are still greedy, scared to let go of the remote control. They want to make sure that you buy every song, movie, application, audio book through their system with the touch or click of a button / screen. But what their problem is that they are restricting they platform ( hint Flash ) because they want to be the only one that can deliver that media to their gadgets. Sometimes you got to "let it be" and give up the control otherwise you become the dictator, and we know that always ends.

So for the jailbraking/modding community - you probably will have the SDK info tomorrow and gain more info on how to make the activation hacks more comfortable. I always thought that these mods are for geeks like me, guys that like to have a technical personal touch on everything - optimize to the max, but when I did my dentist routine last week I found out that even he modded his iPhone

It would be great to finally get Flash on the iPhone, but that is still going to be a wishlist item for Santa. Steve Jobs commented that the iPhone and the current Flash options ( Flash Lite / Flash 9.0… ) are not compatible.

Maybe it is the fact that Flash now allows to playback h.264 videos and the capturing method would bring video mail / video chat and video posting easily to the iPhone user. But "duh" Steve ain’t going to share that story with us! Lets see what happens tomorrow - if this long awaited SDK is any buzz worth or if the Apple Stock prices are going to react again to a low blow?

Here it is, the first GPS solution for the iPhone. We already saw the PSP solution but now Nav N Go have applied their iGO My May flavor to the Apple devices. Based on Engadget the prototype on display at the CeBIT supports turn by turn directions and location finding via a WiFi key or fob. The WiFi key receives the GPS data and retransmits it over WiFi while the fob offers the option to directly attaches the unit to the iPhone or iPod Toch’s docking port.
